Kościół św. Marcina w Poznaniu, Gothic church in central Poznań, Poland

Saint Martin Church is a three-naved structure with brick walls and Gothic vaults, featuring a chancel decorated with stained glass windows from 1960. The wooden bell tower contains three historical bells spanning different periods, serving as notable elements of the interior composition.

First written records date back to 1252, predating Poznań's official founding, while the current Gothic structure was built in the early 1500s. After wartime destruction, the building underwent reconstruction and partial renovation during the 1950s.

The main altar displays a Gothic triptych with the Madonna and Child flanked by sacred figures crafted by Silesian artisans. These artworks show the religious devotion and skilled craftsmanship that have remained central to worship here for centuries.

The interior is easily accessible and allows clear views of the architecture and artworks including the altar triptych and modern windows. Keep in mind that access may be limited during services or religious ceremonies taking place in the church.

A bronze relief above the main entrance depicts Saint Martin on horseback, sculpted by Edward Haupt during post-war reconstruction in the 1950s. This work connects the building's long history with its modern renewal following wartime destruction.
