Emil Schmechel established this clothing warehouse in 1892, which underwent significant reconstruction in 1911 and survived until a devastating fire in 1990.
The structure represents the evolution of Łódź's commercial architecture, transitioning from a textile warehouse to a prominent shoe store known as Dom Buta.
Located at Piotrkowska 98, the building stands near multiple bus stops and remains accessible via public transportation from the city center.
Following the 1990 fire, the building received a complete transformation with a modern glass-mirror facade while maintaining its heritage status A/208.
