Chudów

Chudów is a village with a castle in Gmina Gierałtowice located in the Silesian region of Poland. The structure features a four-sided tower surrounded by open farmland and retains parts of its original medieval design.

The village first appeared in written records from 1295 as part of early medieval settlement patterns in the Silesian region. The castle evolved over centuries and displays features from different periods of its past.

The Chudów Castle Foundation organizes a medieval fair each August, featuring historical demonstrations and traditional regional crafts from Upper Silesia.

The castle tower is restored and open to visitors for exploration, providing a good starting point for understanding the site. The rural location means visitors should plan travel time in advance and check local access routes beforehand.

The original drawbridge that crossed the castle moat led directly into the tower and remains partially preserved today. This rare feature reveals the defensive design typical of medieval fortifications from this era.
