Lubomierz, Limanowa County, Mountain village in Limanowa County, Poland
Lubomierz is a mountain village in Limanowa County situated between 550 and 760 meters in elevation and surrounded by the Gorce Mountains. The settlement spans this terrain in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship and is reached by regional road 968, which also connects to the Ski Lubomierz facility.
The settlement was founded in 1600 when Sebastian Lubomirski acquired the land and granted it Magdeburg rights. This early establishment with special privileges shaped the village's development and transformed the conditions for local farmers.
The residents are part of the Zagórzan highland community and speak their own distinct dialect that shapes daily conversation here. Traditional wooden houses and the old chapel building reflect the craft heritage that remains visible throughout the settlement.
The location is best visited during winter months when the ski facility operates with multiple lifts serving snow sports visitors. Guests should prepare for hilly terrain and bring warm or weatherproof clothing depending on the season and conditions.
A glass factory near the current Turbacz forester's lodge produced specialized glass bells and vessels during the 18th century. This craft production eventually disappeared but still leaves traces in the local heritage.
