Nieboczowy, Village in Silesian Voivodeship, Poland
Nieboczowy is a village in Silesian Voivodeship located within Gmina Lubomia, situated around 56 kilometers southwest of Katowice. The settlement sits in an area marked by industrial heritage and rural character with traditional village architecture and surrounding farmland.
The settlement originated around 1240 as a forest community built by woodcutters and raftsmen working along the Odra River valley. This early economy defined the region for centuries before industrial activities later transformed the wider area.
The village maintains Catholic faith as a core part of community life, visible through its church and local customs. The broader region around Wodzislaw County still carries marks of mining heritage from centuries of coal extraction work.
The village is accessible by road and sits close enough to Grobowka to make travel easy for administrative needs. Visitors should keep in mind this is a rural area, so planning ahead and checking local opening hours in advance is wise.
Between 2013 and 2017, the entire village relocated to a new location near Syrynia to address flood risks from the nearby river. All structures, including the cemetery, were moved in this remarkable community relocation project.
