Żar, Mountain peak in Little Beskids, Poland
Żar is a mountain peak in the Little Beskids that rises approximately 761 meters and is covered with dense forest slopes. From its summit, views extend down to Lake Międzybrodzkie, which sits below in this part of southern Poland.
Aviation came to the mountain in 1935 when a glider airfield was established at its base. This early start in the skies led to the founding of a glider school that has operated continuously to the present day.
The mountain draws paragliders and hikers who gather here to soar over the valley below and explore the wooded slopes. These outdoor activities have become part of the local rhythm, especially when weather conditions are favorable.
The peak can be reached on foot following forested trails, with the walk taking several hours depending on which route you choose. Spring through fall offers the most reliable conditions for trekking, as weather tends to be more favorable.
