Kozubnik, Mountain hamlet in Porąbka, Poland.
Kozubnik is a hamlet in the Porąbka area of southern Poland, set among forested slopes near the Soła river valley. It sits close to the Jezioro Międzybrodzkie reservoir, which shapes much of the surrounding landscape.
Kozubnik was built in the late 1960s as a holiday resort for workers employed by a metallurgical company from Katowice. This kind of worker recreation facility was common across socialist Poland during that period.
The settlement displays traditional mountain building styles and shows how industrial workers spent their leisure time during Poland's socialist era. The houses and structures reflect a distinctive period in Polish everyday life.
The hamlet is reachable by regional roads that connect to the wider road network in the area. A visit works best in the warmer months, when the reservoir and surrounding trails are fully accessible.
The settlement was designed to function entirely on its own, with a private water supply and sewage treatment powered by two diesel generators. This made it fully independent from the public utility network around it.
