Little Beskids

The Little Beskids form a mountain range across southeastern Poland with dense forests, deep valleys, and numerous peaks rising above the surrounding landscape. The highest point, Czupel, reaches 933 meters and defines the skyline throughout the region.

The name Beskids first appears in Latin documents from 1269, pointing to ancient Thracian or Illyrian roots in this mountain region. This early naming reflects how the area has carried cultural meaning throughout the centuries.

Mountain communities in this region gather for seasonal celebrations that feature local music, dancing, and food made from forest ingredients found nearby. These gatherings remain central to how people here connect with their surroundings.

The towns of Andrychów, Bielsko-Biała, and Międzybrodzie Bialskie serve as starting points for hiking throughout the range and offer good access routes. Visitors should come prepared for changing weather and wear sturdy footwear, as trails pass through woodland and uneven terrain.

The Soła River cuts through the mountains from south to north, naturally dividing the range into two distinct geographical sections. This feature shapes how the terrain flows and influences how visitors experience the landscape.
