Church of the Visitation in Sucha Beskidzka, Gothic Revival church in Sucha Beskidzka, Poland
The Church of the Visitation is a Gothic Revival brick church with characteristic buttresses and a polygonal chancel in Sucha Beskidzka. An arcaded passage connects it to a former Renaissance monastery building that forms part of the overall complex.
Piotr Komorowski commissioned its construction between 1613 and 1614. Bernardine monks from Kalwaria Zebrzydowska managed it as a monastic church until 1624.
The interior displays Baroque frescoes showing the Assumption of Mary above the main altar. Rococo altars with Ionic columns shape the visual character of the space.
The church is typically open to visitors and should be visited outside of service times. The main entrance leads directly into the nave, from which the different areas can be explored.
Two Renaissance majolica panels on the facade display the Crucifixion and the coat of arms of the founding Komorowski family. These distinctive ceramic pieces are among the most notable features of the exterior and showcase the craftsmanship of the period.
