The building at 1 Królowej Jadwigi Street displays Gothic features with characteristic stepped gables, decorative recesses, and pointed arch motifs on its facade. The ground floor contains a spacious high hall, while the upper floors originally functioned as storage areas for merchandise.
The house originated in the 15th century and underwent major reconstruction between 1827 and 1834. These changes reflect several architectural phases in Toruń's development.
This house once served as a pharmacy and carries the name Golden Lion. The rooms reflect how wealthy merchants of the period lived and conducted their trade under one roof.
The building is accessible from the street and centrally located in the old town. The Gothic details are clearly visible from the exterior, making it easy to appreciate the architecture while walking through the medieval quarter.
Despite destruction during the Swedish siege of 1703 and the Napoleonic Wars, the building retained its original Gothic elements. This resilience makes it a rare example of how medieval architecture in Toruń survived major conflicts.
