Arboretum in Glinna, Dendrological garden in Glinna, Poland.
The Arboretum in Glinna sits on the southeastern slope of the Bukowe Hills and holds around 230 species of trees and shrubs from different continents spread across 3.8 hectares. The grounds are organized into sections showcasing trees from Europe, Asia, and North America in a natural setting.
It started in 1823 as a private tree nursery focused on native species and became state property in 1870 when the local forestry office took over management. This transition helped establish it as one of the early centers for systematic plant collection in the region.
The garden works closely with Warsaw University of Life Sciences staff who use it for research and preservation work, making it an active part of Poland's botanical community.
Access is typically available from mid-March through late October, and there is no entrance fee. Wear sturdy shoes since the paths wind through hilly terrain and can become slippery after rain.
The collection includes a Chinese stewartia tree specimen discovered in China in 1963, which is the oldest of its kind in Europe. This particular tree represents rare evidence of early botanical expeditions and plant exchanges between continents.
