Transmitter Szczecin-Kołowo, Radio transmission tower in Kołowo, Poland.
The Szczecin-Kołowo transmitter is a radio broadcasting facility located near Szczecin at the highest point of a beech forest in Kołowo. The installation consists of two masts and distributes radio and television signals across the West Pomeranian region.
Construction began in the 1960s with the first mast completed on March 30, 1964, and operations starting in October of that year. A subsequent expansion led to the building of a taller second mast, while portions of the original structure remained in place.
This site has served as a central distribution point for radio and television broadcasts across West Pomerania for decades, connecting people through local media content. Visitors can appreciate how this infrastructure enabled communities in the region to stay informed and connected.
The facility stands at an elevated forest location, so access is possible on foot and the site offers sweeping views of the surrounding area. The best time to visit is during clear weather when visibility of the structure and the outlook are at their best.
The facility features two masts of different heights, with the shorter 61-meter mast being a remnant from modifications made in 1989. These two structures standing side by side reveal how the broadcast installation evolved and adapted over the decades.
