The marble church features distinct onion domes, a Greek cross layout, and stands among the trees of Łazienki Park near the Vilnius train station.
Built between 1867 and 1869 under architect Andrzej Gołoński, the church cost 140,000 rubles and served the growing Russian community in Warsaw's Praga district.
The church functions as the principal Polish Orthodox institution in Warsaw, marked by its inclusion in the national monument registry on July 1, 1965.
The church underwent substantial renovations between 1955 and 1957, funded by municipal and church sources to restore its structural integrity and artistic elements.
In 1999, a supplementary chapel dedicated to Archangel Michael was added to expand the architectural complex and enhance the religious facilities.
