Chatka pod Niemcową, Mountain hut in Beskid Sądecki, Poland.
Chatka pod Niemcową is a wooden shelter located at 960 meters (3,150 feet) on the eastern slope of the Niemcowa ridge. The facility offers shared dormitory rooms with bunk beds, a basic communal kitchen, and an outdoor camping area.
The shelter began operations in 1974 when Krakow students purchased and restored an abandoned farmhouse on the site. This conversion of an old property into a mountain shelter reflects how the place has served successive generations of visitors.
The shelter has long been a gathering place for Krakow-based hikers and climbers, with students and visitors returning year after year. This continuity of visitors shapes how the place feels and gives it a community character.
The hut is reachable on foot via hiking trails from the Poprad valley or from higher peaks in the area. The location at this elevation means the site tends to be windy and the ground can be muddy during wet weather.
From the terrace, visitors can see across the Czercza valley, the Poprad valley, and the Jaworzyna Krynicka range with Pusta Wielka peak standing visible. This overlook gives the shelter a special draw for those who spend time relaxing on site.
