Dolina Pięciu Stawów w Bydgoszczy

Dolina Pięciu Stawów in Bydgoszcz is an urban park featuring five water ponds arranged between Orla, Piekna, and Stroma streets, covering roughly five hectares of land. The ponds form a cascading water system with walking paths and benches positioned around each body of water.

The five ponds served as a drinking water source for Bydgoszcz from the 16th century until the late 18th century, functioning as part of the city's water infrastructure. After centuries of use as a utility, they were restored and transformed into a recreational park for modern use.

The park serves as a gathering place for people living in the Szwederowo and Gorzyskowo neighborhoods. Locals spend their days walking around the water, sitting on the banks, and enjoying moments with family and friends in this shared green space.

The park is easy to access and features multiple walking paths circling the ponds for different routes. The terrain is flat and open, making it comfortable to explore in any season.

The stone construction of the original ponds dates back to the medieval period, reflecting their age as water sources. A major restoration between 2001 and 2003 brought them back to life while preserving their historic stone structures.
