Ďurkovec–Dziurkowiec

Dziurkowiec is a mountain summit located on the Slovakia-Poland border within the Bukovské Mountains range. The peak stands at approximately 1189 meters elevation and serves as a natural frontier marker in this eastern section of the Carpathian Mountains.

The peak became part of established mountain trails like the Eastern Carpathian Trail, which connected travelers between the Slovak-Ukrainian frontier and Poland over many generations. These routes shaped the summit area as a significant passage through the Carpathian region.

The summit forms part of Dark Sky Park Poloniny, where astronomers and visitors gather to observe celestial bodies without interference from artificial light.

The hike to the summit takes around two hours and requires good fitness for the steep climb. Wear sturdy footwear and check weather conditions before heading out, as conditions can change rapidly at higher elevations.

On clear days, multiple distant mountain ranges become visible from this summit, providing sweeping views across the wider Carpathian landscape. The panorama reveals the spatial scale of this mountainous region in an impressive way.
