The building was erected in 1905 by architect Alexander Neumann and replaced an earlier inn called Pod Czarnym Orlem that had operated since the early 19th century. The construction marked a shift toward more modern design and elevated commercial activity in the city.

The name refers to the eagle motif that appears throughout the ornamental facade and interior details, shaping the building's visual identity. Visitors notice these symbols as they move through the halls and spaces, where decorative elements frame the experience.
