Rezerwat przyrody Biała Góra, Nature reserve near Kozłów, Poland
Biała Góra Nature Reserve is a protected area spanning about 10 hectares on the western slope of Biała Mountain in the Miechów region. The site sits on limestone soil and contains both steppe grasses and forest vegetation adapted to this elevated terrain.
The area received official protection in 1955 from Poland's forestry authorities to preserve its rare limestone steppe vegetation. This early conservation action recognized the ecological value of this transition zone decades ago.
The reserve shows the transition between forest and steppe plant communities, helping visitors understand different vegetation types in one location. Schools and research groups regularly use this place to learn about these ecological boundaries.
Visitors should stay on marked paths and follow instructions from reserve staff. The area is best explored on foot and offers good views of the different vegetation zones up close.
This reserve contains natural steppe vegetation on limestone, representing some of the northernmost occurrences of such ecosystems in Poland. Such formations are rare in this region and owe their existence to the area's special geology and historical land conditions.
