Building of Polish Ministry of National Education, Neoclassical government building in Śródmieście, Poland

The Building of Polish Ministry of National Education is a neoclassical structure at Szucha Avenue 25 with a monumental facade and double columns. The central entrance opens onto an interior courtyard, while the ground floor of the left wing houses the Mausoleum of Struggle and Martyrdom, which preserves documents from the German occupation.

Completed in 1930, the building was the first ministerial headquarters in the reborn Polish Republic following World War I. Its construction occurred during a period when the new government sought to demonstrate stability and independence through representative architecture.

The interior spaces feature oak paneling and carefully selected textiles that represent Polish craftsmanship from the interwar years. These rooms reflect the taste and quality standards that the newly independent Polish state wanted to express through its government buildings.

The Mausoleum on the ground floor of the left wing is accessible to visitors and documents events from the period of German occupation. The central courtyard provides good orientation when exploring the building.

Professor Wojciech Jastrzębowski designed the interior spaces with extensive elements of Polish applied arts, creating representative rooms for government functions. Every detail was intentionally crafted to serve the expression of the new Polish identity.
