Rezerwat przyrody Wyspy Świderskie, Nature reserve in Konstancin-Jeziorna, Poland.
Rezerwat Wyspy Świderskie is a nature reserve along the Vistula River featuring islands, sandbars, and shallow waters at the mouth of the Świder River. The site spans a section of the river with natural wetland habitats and riverside ecosystems intact along its entire course.
The reserve was established in 1998 to protect a vital river section with its natural structures. Its creation reflected growing efforts to safeguard important wetland habitats along the Vistula for future generations.
The reserve forms part of the ECONET-POLAND ecological network and maintains 163 plant species alongside 175 vertebrate species, including 140 bird varieties.
You can reach the reserve through marked hiking trails, including a circular route that passes through this area. The best time to visit is during dry weather, as ground conditions vary with the season and water levels.
The sandy shoals and islands here remain untouched by human activity, serving as natural nesting grounds for water birds. Patient observers may spot bird species in certain seasons that are otherwise rare in this region.
