Bolechowicka Valley

Bolechowicka Valley is a nature reserve near Krakow featuring a narrow gorge with limestone walls that reach around 35 meters in height at the entrance. The valley stretches for approximately 1.5 kilometers and offers marked trails through its rocky terrain.

The valley became a protected nature reserve in 1968, marking an important milestone for preserving the natural environment of Lesser Poland. This designation recognized the geological and ecological value of the gorge.

Rock climbers from across Poland have long trained on the valley's stone faces, making it a significant destination for the climbing community.

Reach the valley by taking buses 248 or 268 from Krakow to Bolechowice Centrum, where marked trails start. The area is open year-round, though wet conditions can make the paths slippery.

Two massive rock pillars frame the valley entrance like natural gates. These formations are visible from most vantage points within the reserve and create a distinctive visual landmark.
