Nature reserve Kamień Grzyb

The Kamień Grzyb reserve spans 1.83 hectares of protected land, featuring a prominent mushroom-shaped sandstone formation that reaches 7 meters in height.

The nature reserve, established in 1962, preserves a geological formation created 60 million years ago from sediments of gravel, sand, and silt at the bottom of an ancient sea.

Latin inscriptions found on the triangular stone plate near the rock formation indicate the previous presence of Carmelite monks from the monastery.

Located at 380 meters above sea level on the northern slope of Bukowiec hill, the reserve connects to hiking trails between Bochnia and Nowy Wiśnicz.

The central rock formation consists of two parts with a cap circumference of 27 meters and a stem measuring 17 meters around, accompanied by a natural shelter at its base.
