Rezerwat przyrody Kruczy Kamień, Nature reserve in Kamienne Mountains, Poland.
Rezerwat przyrody Kruczy Kamień is a nature reserve in the Kamienne Mountains featuring a distinctive rocky ridge with steep cliffs. The site displays exposed trachyte rock formations embedded within sedimentary layers that shape the landscape.
The reserve was established in 1954 by the Ministry of Forestry to protect the geological formations and local ecosystem. This action responded to the need to safeguard these distinctive natural features for the long term.
The name comes from the raven, reflecting the connection between local history and wildlife in this area. Visitors can observe how the rocky terrain and plant life together create a habitat that attracts various animal species.
The site is crossed by two marked hiking trails: a green route from Lubawka to Krzeszow and a blue route from Lubawka to Mieroszow. Wear sturdy footwear since the paths cross rocky and uneven ground.
A scientific project brought Apollo butterflies back to this area in the 1990s after more than a century without them in the region. Today visitors can occasionally spot these rare butterflies in the reserve, demonstrating how the habitat has recovered.
