Nature reserve Kuźnik, Nature reserve in Piła County, Greater Poland Province, Poland
The Kuźnik Nature Reserve encompasses four lakes: Rudnickie, Kuźniczek, Little Kuźnik, and Great Kuźnik, surrounded by pine forests and wetlands. The reserve contains a rich mix of water bodies, woodland, and marsh environments that support diverse plant and animal life.
The reserve was established in 1926 by German authorities following recommendations from Richard Fase. It was reactivated and expanded in 1959 to include Rudnickie Lake.
The name Kuźnik comes from an old foundry where bog iron was once extracted, a reminder of the region's working past. Visitors walking through the area can trace how human activity shaped the landscape over time.
Access is available through a free parking area near the S10 road, from which walking trails lead into the reserve. The terrain is flat and easy to navigate, making it accessible for most visitors.
The area is home to around 350 plant species and several natural springs along the lake shores. These springs feed the lakes and create special habitats for rare plants.
