Rogowiec

Rogowiec is a mountain peak in the Suche Mountains that rises to 870 meters above sea level with steep slopes and exposed rock faces throughout its upper section. The terrain displays typical highland features shaped by natural geological processes over time.

A medieval castle was built on the summit during the 13th century under Prince Bolko I and served as a regional defensive stronghold. This fortress represented an important control point for the area during medieval times.

Local hiking groups organize annual autumn expeditions to Rogowiec summit, maintaining traditional mountain climbing practices of the Lower Silesian region.

Marked trails lead to the summit from Grzmiąca village or from the Rybna valley entrance for hikers of different experience levels. The best time to visit is during warmer months when paths are dry and easier to navigate.

The northern face contains distinctive geological formations created by post-glacial tectonic activity with substantial landslide zones that remain visible today. These features offer insight into the major geological shifts that shaped the landscape over millennia.
