The Town hall in Lwówek Śląski is a late Gothic structure with a distinctive tower rising above the market square. Arcaded passages on the ground level and vaulted ceilings inside create its defining character.
Construction started around 1479, but the building underwent major rebuilding between 1522 and 1524 under architect Wendel Roskopf. These renovation works gave the structure its present late Gothic appearance.
The building displays multiple architectural layers from different periods visible in its rooms today. The way commercial arcades sit alongside council spaces shows how closely commerce and administration were linked in this community.
The building sits directly on the market square in the town center and is easy to locate. A nearby Gothic house with commercial stalls helps identify it in the surroundings.
The tower originally contained a jail on its ground floor and a town archive on the floor above. This dual purpose reveals how municipal authority combined punishment and record-keeping under one roof.
