Szwajcarka Hostel, Mountain hut in Karpniki, Lower Silesia, Poland.
Szwajcarka Hostel is a mountain shelter situated at 520 meters elevation within Rudawski Landscape Park in the Sokole Mountains. The wooden building contains guest rooms on the ground floor and an upper level featuring a former prince's chamber with a large stone fireplace.
The building was constructed in 1823 under commission from Wilhelm von Hohenzollern, brother of the Prussian king. Its Swiss architectural style reflects the period's interest in Alpine construction methods.
The shelter serves as a gathering point for hikers and mountaineers from the surrounding region. It embodies the tradition of mountain hospitality and regularly hosts visitors exploring the nearby trail network.
The shelter is accessible on foot via hiking trails from surrounding villages, with routes of varying difficulty. The facility provides accommodation and meals for both day visitors and overnight guests.
The shelter is the only remaining wooden structure of its kind in the area, distinguished by a distinctive veranda encircling the entire building. This wraparound gallery was originally designed for surveying the mountain slopes and now offers visitors panoramic views.
