Schronisko PTTK „Leskowiec”, Mountain hut in Beskid Mały Mountains, Poland
Schronisko PTTK Leskowiec is a mountain shelter located at 890 meters elevation on Polana Bargłowa meadow, positioned below Groń Jana Pawła II peak in eastern Beskid Mały. The facility accommodates 32 guests across rooms ranging from three to nine beds, and provides meals for visitors.
The shelter was built in 1932 by the Wadowice branch of the Polish Tatra Society and survived World War II through the protection of caretaker Jan Targosz. His efforts prevented the building from being destroyed during that period.
The shelter serves as a meeting place for hikers traveling through the Beskid Mały trail network. It has become an important stopping point where visitors gather to rest and connect with fellow mountain walkers.
The shelter is best reached via marked hiking trails from the valley, with routes of varying difficulty available. Visitors should bring weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear, as conditions in the mountains can change quickly.
The shelter has been powered in part by solar collectors installed in 2012 and operates its own sewage treatment system. These installations allow the facility to function in an environmentally conscious way within this high-altitude mountain setting.
