Schronisko PTTK na Magurce Wilkowickiej, Mountain hut in Beskid Maly, Poland
Schronisko PTTK na Magurce Wilkowickiej is a mountain hut situated in the western Beskid Maly range at 909 meters elevation, offering lodging and meals for hikers. The facility accommodates up to 24 guests in rooms designed for two to six people and connects to several marked walking trails in the area.
The shelter was constructed in 1903 by the German tourist organization Beskidenverein as a wooden structure but suffered fires in 1905 and 1912. Following these disasters, the building was reconstructed in stone and became an established mountain facility.
The shelter received its name from Archduchess Maria Theresa during her 1907 visit, marking the strong connection between regional nobility and mountain tourism.
The shelter is best reached by following the marked hiking trails that start from various points in the surrounding area. Plan to arrive with adequate time and proper footwear, as the ascent can be challenging depending on your starting location.
Between 1903 and 1909, the number of annual visitors increased from 307 to 3,533, demonstrating the rapid growth of mountain tourism in the region.
