Wielka Racza Hostel, Mountain hostel in Żywiec Beskids, Poland.
Wielka Racza is a PTTK mountain hostel in the Żywiec Beskids located at roughly 1236 meters (4055 feet) on the southwestern edge of the range. The building offers lodging in rooms of varying sizes, a dining area, and meals for guests throughout their stay.
The building was founded on December 17, 1934, when the Bielsko branch of the Polish Tatra Society invested in its construction. It has remained at this location ever since, serving hikers and mountaineers as a place to rest and refuel.
The name Wielka Racza refers to historical border disputes between Polish and Hungarian territories in this mountain region. For hikers today, the place serves as a gathering point to experience the Beskids landscape and connect with others.
The lodging contains about 50 sleeping spots arranged across rooms with two to ten beds each. Visitors can explore hiking trails from this base and should expect modest comfort, as this is a simple mountain facility.
During winter months, visitors can rent snowshoes to explore the surrounding mountain trails and natural areas. This option opens up entirely different routes that remain inaccessible during other seasons.
