Grey Villa in Warsaw, University building in Śródmieście, Warsaw, Poland.
The Grey Villa at Wybrzeże Kościuszkowskie Street 47 is a university building with a clear, symmetrical facade and elaborate stone elements that express refined taste. Its five-story structure with quiet geometric proportions represents the prewar style and currently houses the Faculty of Law and Administration.
The structure was built in 1905 by architects Bronisław Brochwicz-Rogoyski and Andrzej Kiciński and initially served as a residence for water supply administration. It underwent various uses throughout the following decades before being repurposed in 2011 to support university education.
The building displays characteristic features of early Warsaw residential design with its balanced facades and stone details that reflect the refined living standards of that period. Today students and faculty use these spaces daily, transforming it into a place where contemporary learning happens within historic walls.
The building is accessible to visitors interested in seeing the university campus and sits on a busy street near the Vistula riverbank. The best time to visit is outside lecture periods when hallways are quieter and you can observe the architecture more easily.
The structure received monument designation number 1604-A in 1995 in Warsaw's heritage registry. This official protection safeguards the building's historic fabric and architectural details from future alterations.
