Świerkocin Zoo Safari, Drive-through wildlife park in Świerkocin, Poland
Świerkocin Zoo Safari is a drive-through wildlife park in Świerkocin, in the Lubusz Voivodeship of western Poland. The grounds are divided into zones that correspond to different continents, with animals such as zebras, camels, ostriches, and antelopes roaming large, open enclosures.
The park opened in 1996 as the first safari-style wildlife facility in Poland, starting with around 70 animals. Since then it has grown steadily, adding new animal zones over the years.
Unlike a classic zoo, visitors here move through the animal areas by car, setting their own pace and staying as long as they like near any group of animals. This gives the visit a very different feel, closer to watching animals in the open than standing in front of a cage.
Having your own vehicle is recommended, as the route through the zones is designed for cars. Keep windows closed when near the animals and follow any instructions from staff to ensure a safe experience for everyone.
Some of the animals in the park are curious enough to approach cars and peer through the windows, making each visit slightly different from the last. This kind of direct contact, with no fence in between, is something most visitors do not expect before arriving.
