Dormition Church, Eastern Orthodox church in Dubiny, Poland
Dormition Church is a brick Orthodox church in Dubiny featuring traditional Orthodox design with dome roofs and intricate facade decoration on Szkolna street. The building displays classic Orthodox architectural elements with multiple cupolas and detailed stonework.
Built between 1867 and 1872, the church replaced an 18th-century wooden structure that was later relocated to the village of Rogacz. This new construction marked the shift from the older timber building to a more permanent brick structure.
The church holds an oak iconostasis funded by priest Parteniusz Bazylewski, with icons framed by local artist Michał Ochrymiuk. These artworks shape the interior space and reflect the region's craft traditions.
Access is possible during regular services and special celebrations, particularly around the Dormition holiday in late August. Visitors should wear respectful clothing and acknowledge the religious nature of the space.
During Orthodox celebrations, older women carry homemade candles while the congregation processes three times around the building. This tradition reveals the community's deep connection to ritual practices.
