Poznań Fara, Baroque church in Poznań, Poland
Poznań Fara is a baroque church in Poznań supported by sixteen large columns that carry the main nave upward. The interior spans approximately 55 meters in one direction and features elaborate stucco and painted decorations throughout.
Construction of the church began in 1649 under architect Tomasz Poncino and continued through multiple phases over decades. Wars and political upheaval in the region caused repeated delays before the building reached its current form.
The church displays sculptures of the apostles positioned above the columns and features 18th-century decorative elements that reflect the artistic tastes of the period. These ornaments shape how the interior feels today and demonstrate the craftsmanship invested in the space.
The interior is accessible to visitors who want to observe the architectural details and decorative work up close. It is worth checking beforehand what services or events might be taking place, as these can affect access to different parts of the space.
The organ dates to 1876 and was built by Friedrich Ladegast, a renowned instrument maker of that era. This pipe organ still functions and is played during concerts, allowing visitors to experience music exactly as audiences did in the past.
