The Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church is a Baroque building in Jelenia Góra with a central floor plan and three levels of galleries running along the sides. The interior can hold around 4,000 people and displays the typical spatial arrangement of Baroque religious architecture.
The church was built between 1709 and 1718 as one of six Lutheran Grace Churches constructed in Silesia. Its creation followed an agreement reached through the intervention of Swedish King Charles XII with the Austrian Emperor.
The interior displays ceiling paintings showing biblical scenes that reflect the religious artistic traditions of the period. Visitors can observe these works while walking through the space and noticing how they decorate the upper areas of the building.
The church is accessible to visitors who wish to attend religious services or join guided tours of the building. It is advisable to check opening times in advance and dress respectfully when entering the interior spaces.
The church houses an original organ from 1729 positioned above the main altar, which has survived centuries of religious transitions. This instrument continues to function musically during services and special occasions.
