Karwiny, Residential district in Gdynia, Poland.
Karwiny is a residential district in Gdynia that extends along the edge of Tricity Landscape Park. The area features a mix of four-story apartment blocks and ten high-rise buildings reaching eleven floors.
This area became officially part of Gdynia in 1973, expanding the city's territory during a period of population growth for the Baltic Sea port. This annexation supported the city's economic expansion and urban development.
Two Catholic churches shape community life here: the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary located between Karwiny II and III, and Queen Jadwiga Church in Karwiny I serve as focal points for residents. They reflect the religious traditions visible in the everyday rhythm of the neighborhood.
Gdynia Karwiny railway station, opened in 2017, connects residents to the broader regional rail network through the Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway. From here you can easily reach other neighborhoods and nearby towns.
The district is divided into three numbered sub-areas - Karwiny I, II, and III - with higher numbers indicating greater distance from the city center. This numbering system helps residents and visitors navigate and understand the neighborhood's geography.
