Koziarz, Mountain peak in Beskid Sądecki, Poland
Koziarz is a mountain peak at the western edge of the Radziejowa range, in southern Poland, sitting between the villages of Jaworzynka and Suchy Groń. The summit has an observation tower with an enclosed staircase that gives visitors a view over the surrounding terrain.
The peak stayed largely undeveloped for a long time, until new hiking and cycling routes were built in the early 2010s. The observation tower followed shortly after, opening the mountain to a wider range of visitors.
The eastern slopes of the peak still show farmed fields enclosed by wooden fences, a sign that this land has been worked for generations. This mix of mountain terrain and small-scale farming gives the area a feel quite different from more purely forested summits nearby.
Most visitors start the climb from Łącko, where trails are clearly marked and lead to the summit in roughly an hour and a half. Winter conditions can make some sections slippery, so sturdy footwear is a good idea year-round.
The tower on the summit faces west and north, while the steep western slopes drop directly down to the Dunajec River. This position between a major river valley and the surrounding peaks gives visitors a perspective from the top that is rare in this part of the mountains.
