Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Saint Michael in Wieleń, Baroque church in Wieleń, Poland.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Saint Michael in Wieleń is a brick structure with Baroque features and includes a semicircular presbytery, several annexes, and a chapel dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. External plaster finishing gives the building a unified architectural appearance.

Construction of this church began in 1615 and was completed in 1630, with its consecration occurring in 1632 under the patronage of Zofia Czarnkowska. The patron made possible the creation of a religious building that shaped the faith community.

The main altar was crafted by artisans from Pelplin and displays a painting of the Assumption of Mary alongside sculptures of Saints Stanislaus, Adalbert, Hedwig, and Elizabeth. These works shape the interior of this religious building and reflect the artistic tradition of the region.

The church is accessible to visitors and serves as the parish church for the Roman Catholic community in the Wieleń deanery. It is helpful to check mass times in advance to plan your visit accordingly.

The patron's lodge balcony in the presbytery features rich decorations from the first quarter of the 18th century, including three cabinets adorned with coats of arms. This detail shows the wealth and social standing of the donors of that time.
