Saint Michael Archangel church in Poznań, Roman Catholic church in Rogalinek district, Poznań, Poland
Saint Michael Archangel church is a sacred building in the Rogalinek district, standing on a small hill near the Warta River with a wooden log structure and weatherboard-clad walls. The building features segmental-arched windows and is topped by a steeple with a Baroque onion-shaped cupola.
Construction of the present church building took place between 1700 and 1712, initiated by Hieronim Wierzbowski, a suffragan bishop of Poznań. The structure arose during a period of religious consolidation in the region.
The sanctuary preserves a wooden sculpture of Mary with Child from 1700, which replaced the original Our Lady of Rogalinek statue that was stolen in 2002. This work reflects the artistic traditions of that era and remains a focal point for visitors inside.
The church welcomes visitors during the week and maintains regular mass services, with detailed schedules available on the Poznań Archdiocese website. Access is straightforward for visitors, as the hilltop location offers good visibility from the surroundings.
The church houses three decorative altars from the late 1700s that reflect the craftsmanship and religious devotion of that period. These altars are often overlooked details that give the interior artistic depth and complexity.
