Saint Anthony of Padua and Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church in Gorzów Wielkopolski

Saint Anthony of Padua and Saint Stanislaus Kostka Church is a brick structure with a rectangular footprint, an eastern sacristy, a western tower, and a gabled roof topped with an octagonal steeple. The building sits prominently at the town square with simple, dignified proportions.

Built between 1676 and 1704 by order of the town council, this church replaced an earlier medieval chapel dedicated to Saint Gertrude and Saint Lawrence. The multi-decade construction reflects the importance placed on creating this community gathering place.

The church served multiple faith communities over centuries, with Lutherans and Calvinists worshipping here before it became Catholic after World War II. Today, the space continues to gather people for religious observance and community events at the town square.

The church is located at Plac Staromiejski 1 in the heart of the old town and is easily reached on foot. Regular opening times are maintained throughout the year, and the space is accessible for both worship and quiet reflection.

A massive linden tree with a trunk as thick as a person is tall grows in front of the church entrance, providing shade and a place to rest. Locals and visitors often pause beneath its branches while exploring the old town.
