Most łyżwowy we Włocławku, Historical pontoon bridge in Włocławek, Poland.
The ice bridge in Włocławek was a wooden and metal structure that crossed the Vistula River. It connected the city center with the Szpetal Dolny district over a distance of 637 meters and could accommodate both people on foot and vehicles.
The bridge was built in 1865 based on plans created by Inspector Grzegorz Czerniawski and later reconstructed after damage during conflicts in the early 1900s. It was taken apart permanently in 1938.
The bridge represented a vital link for the local population, enabling the transport of food supplies and creating economic connections between different parts of the region.
The structure was supported by about 80 pontoons with steel frameworks and was only about 6 meters wide. This narrow width meant that pedestrians and vehicles had to cross one after the other rather than side by side.
Early operating costs were paid through toll fees collected from users, with extra money going toward maintenance work. The Ministry of Communications took over financial control in 1871 and ended the toll system.
