Mouse Tower, Gothic brick tower near Lake Gopło, Kruszwica, Poland

The Mouse Tower rises 32 meters above Lake Gopło, featuring a square base structure and thick defensive walls made of red brick materials.

Built in the 14th century during King Kazimierz the Great's reign, the tower remained standing after Swedish forces burned down the surrounding castle in 1656.

The tower's name stems from a Polish legend about Prince Popiel II, who according to medieval chronicles met his end when mice devoured him.

Visitors can reach the tower by following marked paths from Kruszwica's center, with guided tours available from April through October each year.

Archaeological excavations near the tower revealed early medieval settlements, including wooden huts with clay floors and numerous bronze artifacts.
