Olszanica

Olszanica is a residential neighborhood in western Kraków characterized by single-family homes and tree-covered land along the Olszanicki stream. The Wolski Forest surrounds the area and provides green spaces that separate the district from the city center.

The area was settled in prehistoric times, with archaeological evidence of villages dating to around 4500-3800 BCE. In the 1880s, Fort 39 was built here as part of Kraków's defensive fortifications, marking a significant shift in the district's development.

The Church of Our Lady of Czestochowa serves as a gathering place for residents and marks the spiritual center of the neighborhood. Local families visit regularly for services and celebrations throughout the year.

The neighborhood is accessible by municipal buses and suburban trains that connect to the city center. Walking paths wind through and around the forest, making it easy to explore the green areas on foot.

Fort 39 still stands in the district as a relic of military engineering from the 1880s. This fortified structure is one of the few remaining examples of the defensive architecture built during that era on the western edge of the city.
