Niedźwiedzia Góra, Hill in Tenczyński Ridge, Poland
Niedźwiedzia Góra is a 354-meter forested hill within the Tenczyński Ridge, an extensive woodland area near Kraków. The densely wooded elevation forms part of a continuous forest complex that extends across the surrounding landscape.
Mining of diabase rock began in 1902 at a quarry near the hill, where ancient volcanic stone was extracted for road construction. This industrial activity shaped the landscape and supplied materials to the growing region.
The Mountain Mining Trail connecting Krzeszowice through Niedźwiedzia Góra to Czernichów reflects the industrial heritage of this region in southern Poland.
The area is served by a network of hiking trails and cycling routes that connect to nearby villages and nature reserves. Wear sturdy footwear since the wooded paths have varying slopes and can be muddy after rain.
Beneath the surface lie 44-meter-thick layers of volcanic rock that reveal details about geological processes from millions of years ago. This rock formation offers researchers a significant location for studying ancient Earth history.
