The Folk Museum of the Brzozowski's Family in Sromów

The Folk Museum of the Brzozowski's Family in Sromów, Folk museum in Sromów, Poland.

The Folk Museum of the Brzozowski's Family is a local history museum housed in four pavilions displaying wooden sculptures, traditional clothing, horse-drawn vehicles, and farming equipment from the Łowicz region. The exhibition presents these objects in themed sections to provide a complete picture of rural life in the area.

Julian Brzozowski established the museum in 1972 after spending two decades creating wooden figures that were initially stored in living rooms and garages. His private collection eventually became a publicly accessible institution preserving the region's craft heritage.

The collection displays over 400 wooden figures depicting local customs, including Christmas celebrations, Corpus Christi processions, and traditional weddings from the region. These works reflect everyday life and festival traditions that have held meaning for people here across generations.

The museum operates from March through November, with visits during winter months requiring advance telephone arrangements with the owners. It is best to contact ahead to ensure access is available and to plan the best time for your visit.

Many of the wooden figures are equipped with mechanical systems that allow them to move, depicting daily activities, celebrations, and agricultural work. These animated scenes make the exhibition a living reflection of rural customs that goes beyond static display.
