Gdynia City Museum

Gdynia City Museum occupies a sandstone building positioned where the urban area meets the waterfront. Inside are thousands of photographs, postcards, maps, and artworks that document how this location transformed from a small settlement into a major harbor.

The institution spent decades in temporary locations across the city until 2007, when a newly constructed sandstone building gave it a permanent home. This move allowed the collection to finally be displayed together in one central place.

The building sits at the junction where the city meets the sea, and this location reflects how the place has always been shaped by its connection to water and trade. Objects and images inside tell stories about how ordinary people lived and worked as this coastal settlement grew.
