The museum received its permanent location in 2007 after President Lech Kaczyński inaugurated the new building, following decades of temporary arrangements across the city.

Visitors can explore the museum's collections from Tuesday through Sunday between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM, with guided tours available upon request.
The museum organizes the Baltic Mini Textile Gdynia, an international competition that places the institution among leading European textile art centers.
