Rzeszów Regional Museum

The Rzeszow Regional Museum is housed in a seventeenth-century former monastery complex with baroque architectural details and decorated interior spaces. The collection includes paintings, archaeological finds, and folk objects that document the history and culture of the Podkarpacie region.

The institution was founded in 1935 and moved in 1953 into the baroque monastery building, which had been designed in the early seventeenth century by a noted architect. The structure itself had previously served for a long time as an educational center for the Piarists.

The building itself tells of religious scholarship: the Piarists used it for centuries as a school and monastery. Today visitors can recognize the baroque character of an order that focused on education within these rooms.

The museum is located in central Rzeszow and is easily accessible by public transportation. Visitors should allow time to walk through the various exhibition areas and wear comfortable shoes, as the rooms are spread across multiple levels.

The ornate interior stucco work was created by an Italian master named Giovanni Battista Falconi in the middle of the seventeenth century. These fine decorations rank among the most valuable decorative elements that visitors can still see in the rooms today.
