Old Park in Białystok, Park and immovable monument in central Białystok, Poland.
The Old Park is a green space in central Białystok covering about 4.8 hectares with symmetrical pathways, open lawns, and mature trees distributed throughout. Multiple entrances from Mickiewicza, Branickiego, and Elektryczna streets connect via stone-paved paths that lead through all sections.
The park was created between 1895 and 1897 when garden designer Walerian Kronenberg built it on the site of a former mill pond near the Biała River. This transformation changed an industrial location into a public leisure space.
The park was named in 1989 to honor Prince Józef Poniatowski during celebrations marking Białystok's 240th anniversary of city rights. Locals use the space as a daily gathering point where people walk, sit on benches, and enjoy green surroundings.
The grounds are easy to reach from the street and have paved pathways that accommodate visitors with different mobility needs. Multiple entry points from different street sides make it simple to enter and explore the space.
The grounds feature water elements with small streams flowing directly from an underground reservoir located near the Drama Theatre building. Many visitors overlook this hidden water feature, though it adds a refreshing quality to the space.
