Branicki Palace, Baroque palace in Białystok, Poland
Branicki Palace is a Baroque complex in Białystok that includes a main residence, formal gardens stretching toward the river, and several wings surrounding large courtyards. A separate pavilion stands to the east of the main building, with additional structures housing the former arsenal.
A 16th-century manor on this site was rebuilt between 1691 and 1697 under Tylman van Gameren. Further large-scale expansions occurred in the first half of the 18th century when Jan Klemens Branicki transformed it into a grand residence.
During the 18th century, the residence functioned as a regional center for theater performances, orchestral concerts, and ballet productions.
The buildings now house the Medical University of Białystok, but guided tours allow visitors to enter selected interior rooms and garden areas. A visit typically lasts around one hour and covers the main courtyards and the grounds near the river.
The grounds cover several hectares and include a canal that divides the gardens into two levels. Visitors can walk along the terraces and see sculptures reflecting 18th-century French gardening traditions.
