Bednarski Park in Kraków, Public park in Podgórze district, Kraków, Poland.
Bednarski Park is a green space in Podgórze built on land that was worked as a limestone quarry for centuries. The roughly 8-hectare grounds feature winding paths, thick woodland, and exposed stone walls that mark the old excavation sites.
The site started as a limestone quarry in medieval times and was converted into a public park in the early 1900s. School principal Wojciech Bednarski led the effort to transform the abandoned quarry into a green space.
During the 1950s, the park featured a winter ice rink at the quarry bottom where orchestras performed while families skated under colored lights.
The park can be accessed easily from Krzemionki Street and Parkowa Street through several entry points. Inside you will find a children's playground, outdoor exercise equipment, and plenty of shaded areas for rest.
The park incorporates limestone walls from the medieval quarry, creating varying elevation levels and natural shade patterns throughout the grounds.
